Internet Research Activities (HL/SL)

Research and make brief individual notes on the following. Ensure that the IT terminologies are used correctly.

Web Browsers
- Describe the main features of a web browsers e.g bookmarks.
- How do you add functionality to a web browser? e.g plug-in

Data driven website
- Give examples of data driven websites and explain how they are different from the other websites.(e.g PHP)

Website management
- Describe in detail the process involved in creating a website to the final stage of hosting.e.g What software can be used, how do you get domains, how do you host the website and how is the website uploaded.

Web 1.0, Web 2.0, web 3.0 and Web 4.0 and web 5.0
- Distinguish between each of the about briefly.

- Define each term listed here: wikis, blogs, micro-blogs, RDF(resource description framework), RSS (really simple syndication) feeds, mashups,forums, social bookmarking, online collaborative applications, podcasts, photocasts, vidcasts, social networking sites, templates, tagging, viral marketing, webcasts, widgets, virtual worlds and learning environments.

- Describe atleast one Web 2.0 tools and Web 3.0 tools that is applied in the 6 application scenarios.
Example: Scenario: Politics and Government
Web 2.0: Social networks like facebooks used by politicians to share their policies
Web 3.0: Intelligent social networks shares the views of the polician independently based on their previous contributions.

- Distinguish with examples between push and pull technologies

- Outline the different internet threats and the diffrent security measures/solutions that can be used
